THE OBVIOUS SUSPECT

Simon Andrieu led a pleasantly boring existence. The humble math teacher occupied much of his time alone in the basement engaging his twin passions for model trains and whisky - until one evening when his wife was out, their young female lodger was found murdered in her room. With no one to corroborate his story, rumors quickly spread among the middle-class townsfolk who had never fully welcomed Simon, a newcomer of more modest origins.

Based on the novel 'Belle' by Georges Simenon, the setting is relocated from rural Connecticut to the petty bourgeoisie of provincial France.
