In 1939, Victoire, an unmarried mother who has suffered a failed abortion and then decides to keep her baby, comes to Paris to be a doctor. She dedicates her career to helping women organise the first family planning schemes. A feminist militant, mother and lover, she was extremely active until the Veil law of 1975, which provided French women with the choice to have an abortion.
