A piece of bread, two or three fresh ingredients... and you are all set for a snack made in 2 minutes. But what if... you had to produce all the ingredients of your sandwich one by one, starting from scratch? How long would that take? Sandwich is the challenge that the journalist Benjamin Carle set himself to analyze this strange necessity that we have to make our own things. It is a film on the "Do It Yourself" trend. At a time when everything can be bought anywhere in any quality, why do more and more people chose to come back to manual hobbies and/or jobs? It is a film that shows how a young man from the city, not a very handy person, tries to find his personal pride back by proving wrong to the saying "young people can't do anything by themselves". He tells the story of progress that in a way set us free from hard works but that also pushed us away from our homo sapiens heritage. And finally, maybe we are all trying to get back to our roots...
