In the 1930's, Georges Mandel, is one of the most talented, respected and feared members of parliament. He is the first in the battle against the rise of nazism sensing the dangers that this ideology poses to France and Europe. Being Jewish, he fears that if he left France, he would be considered a deserter an refuses to join Churchill in London. Arrested by the Vichy government, dragged from prison to prison he is finally assassinated by the militia in appaling conditions.
