CHAUDEMANCHE AND SON

In Anjou, eau de vie from apples is called "gnôle" or "goutte" but for the Chaudemanches, originally from Normandy, it is "calva". 69-year-old Eugène Chaudemanche lives alone with his son (35) and his daughter (20) in a farm on the banks of the Loire. A home distiller, with a penchant for women as well as for alcohol, he has been moonshining for years, selling his "calva" with his son who is as suspect as his father and who shares his passion for women.
