Jeff Hale is an astronaut. After a meteor shower, his space shuttle in perdition enters the Riverworld planet atmosphere. Jeff wakes up in a bubble underwater. He is freed by a strange black character whose face is hidden under a hood.He reaches the surface, swims to the shore and remembers the shuttle explosion. He understands he might be dead...
