The Roman Empire left behind an incredible architectural legacy. Many of its most impressive vestiges can be found in the south of France, in places like Nîmes (originally named Nemausus, after the son of Hercules). Once an outpost of nearly 25,000 inhabitants-a huge population in the 2nd century-today the city and its surroundings are a true open-air Roman museum. The large amphitheater that is still in use, the amazingly preserved Maison Carré and the Temple of Diane are just a few of the time-honored monuments we'll explore in this fascinating, unprecedented documentary revealing the mysteries behind their construction.
