OSCAR® WINNER JEREMY IRONS JOINS SAM CLAFLIN AND THE PRESTIGIOUS CAST OF THE INTERNATIONAL LIMITED SERIES THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO
Rome, Paris, London - November 20, 2023 - Oscar® winning actor Jeremy Irons has joined Sam Claflin and the prestigious cast of the limited series THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, produced by PALOMAR (Italy), in collaboration with DEMD Productions (France) and directed by Oscar® winning director Bille August.
The incomparable Jeremy Irons assumes the key role of Abbé Faria in his third collaboration with director Bille August. Irons is best known for such films as
Dead Ringers, Reversal of Fortune (for which he received the ACADEMY AWARD® for Best Actor), The House of the Spirits, House of Gucci and for his acclaimed role in the TV series Watchmen.
The English actor will portray the iconic character Abbé Faria who befriends the novel’s hero, the iconic Edmond Dantès, played by British actor Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Hunger Games, Peaky Blinders, Daisy Jones and the Six). Faria plays a decisive role in carrying out his revenge in the beloved and timeless French novel, (one of the country’s most popular novels of all time) The Count of Monte Cristo.
Shooting is planned in Malta in the upcoming weeks.
The cast brings together Ana Girardot (The Returned, Escobar) in the role of Mercedes, as well as Mikkel Boe Følsgaard (A Royal Affair, The Rain, Ehrengard), Blake Ritson, Karla-Simone Spence, Michele Riondino, Lino Guanciale, Gabriella Pession and Nicolas Maupas.
